About the Humanitarian Collaborative
The Humanitarian Collaborative is a new research/engagement project supported by the University of Virginia Global Inquiry and Innovation office. The objective was to form an interdisciplinary team that included academics, students, and practitioners who can come together to share their diverse expertise and undertake applied research that can contribute to the broad aim of the United Nations Agenda for Humanity of fostering policy change that will help ‘alleviate global suffering, reduce risk, and lessen vulnerability to humanitarian crisis on a global scale’. Each year the Collaborative will choose a theme the team could work to impact change on a pressing issue.
To date the team includes the United Nations, Save the Children, the Peace Appeal Foundation, International Rescue Committee Charlottesville as well over 22 faculty, staff, Phd, graduate and undergraduate students from across the schools at the University of Virginia.
